Jennifer Prediger is a writer, director, and actor drawn to the sacred, absurd, unruly business of being human. With humor and tenderness, she tells stories about women, family, and the things we believe to get through the day.
As an actor, Jennifer has appeared in five films that premiered at Sundance: Uncle Kent, A Teacher, The Foxy Merkins, First Girl I Loved, and Dinner in America. She starred in Joe Swanberg’s Uncle Kent, which was acquired by IFC. Her other credits include Alex Karpovsky’s Red Flag, Nancy Andrews’s The Strange Eyes of Dr. Myes, and films by Bob Byington, Onur Tukel, and Leah Shore.
She co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in Apartment Troubles with Jess Weixler. Featuring Megan Mullally and Will Forte, the film premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival and was released theatrically before airing on Showtime. She also produced Paul Lieberstein’s dark comedy Song of Back and Neck, starring Lieberstein, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Paul Feig.
Her current projects include Dressing for a Funeral, a short film about grief and the inheritance of love; Virgin Margot, a coming-of-age comedy and 2026 Austin Film Festival Short Screenplay Award finalist; and Attachment Theory, a feature screenplay exploring family wounds and the people we keep loving.
Before filmmaking, Jennifer worked in environmental journalism and comedy, contributing to Grist, The Washington Post, Slate, and The Onion. She is a graduate of College of the Atlantic and holds an M.A. in Organizational Psychology and an M.F.A. in Screenwriting. She is an Assistant Professor of Film & Media Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
